ECCENTRIC FLOWERS
Oil pastel on Fabriano toned paper.

This series blossomed in the winter of 2022. Everyday, as I made my way through my garden to my atelier, I imagined what new flower might be awaiting me. First, I worked with muted palettes reflecting the still winter. As winter thawed, my colors brightened like the song of happy birds.
Oil pastel unlike steel is malleable and soft. The medium warms to the touch and lends itself to creating expressive, blended strokes.
